What does Tier 3 mean for the Church?

Dear Friends,

It is with much disappointment that I write to let you know that, following the announcement that we are entering Tier 3, the Elders and I have decided not to open the church for in-person services as planned. This will take effect immediately, including this coming Sunday and will remain the case until we move back into Tier 2.  This is the second time that we have planned to reopen the building, only to be overtaken by the changing circumstances we find ourselves in. Our priority is to keep everyone as safe as possible and so we hope you understand this decision. It is worth noting that the numbers who had booked in to attend the services in-person were very small, perhaps reflecting the caution that most people are feeling at the moment.

Although this winter time feels dark and challenging, we know that hope is on the horizon. We look forward to hearing that some of our church family have received the vaccine in the coming days and weeks. We pray that it will not be long before we can all meet again under more normal circumstances.

In the meantime, the church is still very much alive and well. All the services will still take place and you can share with them online, or on DVD/CD. We continue to think of the most vulnerable with our offerings and collections and some brilliant youth and children’s work continues online. Do look out especially for the nativity which will be shown during the Crib Service at 4pm on Christmas Eve. We know it will make you smile! If features around 30 of our children and was filmed in multiple locations – including a real stable! The pictures below give a sneak preview.

Please stay faithful in prayer for our community and for all who are struggling. May the light of Jesus shine even more brightly in the darkness this Christmas.

Yours in Christ,

Lucy

I just want to thank you all for all you have done during covid so far. Since March I’ve stopped interacting with the church I’ve attended for 24 years. Seeing what you have been doing over this period has helped me to see some light in such a dark world. You have brought a smile to my face in my darkness. Thank you and I wish you and your congregation a very blessed Christmas and an even more blessed “2021”.
