Giving to the church
As well as providing weekly worship we are a charitable organisation, supporting a staff team and numerous social action projects through the week including youthwork, pastoral care, social drop-ins, community events and initiatives.

Giving from friends and members is essential to our work and ministry, there are various ways to support us as detailed below. For more information please contact treasurer@wokingurc.org.uk

Ways to donate to the work of the church
Cheques/Cash
Cheques made payable to 'Woking URC' can be sent to the church office or direct to the Church Treasurer. To help with allocating the amount correctly,
provide a reference on the reverse of the cheque or include a note inside the envelope that contains
the cheque or cash. If no instructions are provided the money will be allocated to the General Fund.
Standing Order
For most of those who give on a regular basis this is the preferred option. If you have access to online banking, it is extremely easy to set up a Standing Order and then manage it. If you do set up a new Standing Order in this way, please let the Treasurer know so we can check it is working.

Legacies
Leaving a legacy to a charity is a very popular way of helping others when you have gone. By leaving a gift to Woking URC in your will, you will help make an important long-term contribution to the work of the Church.
It will be free of inheritance tax, so all you need to do is to tell your solicitor or will writer, that you would like to leave a legacy to Woking URC.
Bank Transfer
A bank transfer is ideal for those with online banking. All that is needed is to enter the church’s bank account details, and Gift Aid can be claimed if a declaration form has already been provided.

Gift Aid is extremely beneficial to the Church as it recovers an additional 25% of the amount donated from HMRC! All options allow those who are eligible UK taxpayers to Gift Aid their donations. To be eligible you need to pay more in tax than WURC recover. A gift aid declaration can cover the last 4 years as well as current and future years. In 2020, over £26,000 was recovered. Money donated directly via Standing Order, Bank Transfer, or Cheque will qualify if you complete a Gift Aid Declaration.
