How will we be the Church during Coronavirus?

Dear Woking United Reformed Church Family,

It is with a heavy heart that I write to tell you that, as of immediate effect, our church building will temporarily close and that all in-person services, activities, meetings and House Groups will stop until further notice. This does not, of course, mean that the church ceases to be, for you and I are the church and we continue to be a family even though we can’t meet in person for a time.

When I explained this to my children there were tears, and understandably so, but we are already thinking about the celebrations and party we will have when we are all able to meet together again. We are people of faith, not fear and we will live out our calling as people of God in these new circumstances, being lights wherever we find ourselves.

*** We plan to broadcast an act of worship from the church each Sunday morning at 10.30am. You can tune in via Facebook or on the front page of our church website. All past recordings, both audio and video, will be made available at the Service Recordings page too. ***

If you feel lonely, pick up the phone. If you are wondering how someone is, pick up the phone. If you’re bored, pick up the phone. If you’re feeling low, pick up the phone. I want to see the whole Woking URC family connected more than ever! If you need practical help we can facilitate that, and I’m grateful to those who have already contacted me to offer their services.

We send you our love and prayers and want you to know that we will miss you all. Until we meet again, may God hold us all in the palm of his hand.

Lucy
