NEWS AND NOTICES

Join us for Pause for Prayer every other Wednesday at 7pm on www.wokingurc.org.uk and www.facebook.com/wokingurc

There will be a picnic in the Church grounds after the Service today.  If you are at home please do come along after the Service ends.  If you have forgotten food there should be two shops open close to the railway station.

If you are NOT staying for the picnic please vacate the Church car park by 12.15 pm so that those who are may bring their cars down from Heathside to the Church (to avoid a fine after 1 pm).  Parking is permitted in the side roads and pay a fee in Heathside.

The Church is working to a recommended policy of gradually lifting restrictions.  Please continue to wear your mask if possible.
Tea and coffee will be served outside in the Church garden, weather permitting.  Otherwise, refreshments will be served to you at tables inside.
The after Service Zoom will now cease as congregations get larger and most of those who ‘attended’ the Zoom are present at the Church.  It has been good to be able to ‘meet’ in this way during these past unusual 16 months.

If you would like to give to the Church this can be done through two different links on the front page of the Church’s website or Facebook page – Cafonline and Givt. Regular giving can also be set up by these methods or by bank standing
order.

It’s time to sit together again. The appeal for new chairs for the Sanctuary and Chapel is now open and there are four easy ways to donate:
1.  By Bank transfer to – Woking URC   Sort Code: 40-47-08  Account Number: 31890204   Ref: (Surname) – Chairs
2. By cheque payable to – Woking URC with “Chairs” written on the reverse.
3. Credit Cards – using the contactless device on the left of the doors from the
Forum to the Foyer.  Please select “Time to sit together”.
4. Online – using the link on the Church website and selecting “Time to sit
together”.

Prayers are very important, particularly at this time when some are still in isolation.  If you would like to request a prayer or volunteer to commit to praying regularly at home, and receive a prayer list please email Morwenna at
office@wokingurc.org.uk

If you would like to listen to another Service…..the URC is sending one out at 10 am each Sunday morning which can be accessed at any time  afterwards. Just go to –  https://devotions.urc.org.uk  – and you can also be signed up for the daily email which gives a Bible reading, a commentary and a prayer.

Monday to Friday – Church Youth ‘Camp’.  This is a daily attendance and not a sleeping camp this year.  Please remember the leaders and young people in your prayers.

Some of the regular Zoom meetings, including some House Groups, are having a break for August.  Please watch for starting dates either on Zoom or in person.

Thursday – 10 am – Prayers for help and healing.
A short Service as close as possible to the weekly gathering for prayers which was held at the Church.
10.30 am Social Time Chat Everyone welcome at either or both.
To share in either via Zoom the link is: https://Zoom.us/j/95986431118.   Should you need it, the meeting ID is 959-8643-1118.

Thursday – 11.30 am to 12.30 at the Church. Gifts for the York Road Project  Regular items welcomed – YRP’s particular needs at the moment are: Fresh fruit and vegetables, Packets of Cup a soup, Individual packets of crisps, Small pots of UHT milk, Chocolate, Cereal bars, Small sachets of coffee, Sugar sachets, Individual bottles of water.
Please, do not donate, pasta, tea or pot noodles. They have ample supplies of those at present.

The Minister is on study leave this coming week and then on annual leave until 27th August.  In her absence please contact one of your pastoral Elders, the Church & Community Worker or the Church Secretary.

Next Worship occasions:

Wednesday 4th August at 7 pm – Pause for Prayer

Sunday 8th August at 10.30 am – Morning Worship led by the Revd Helen Everard

Wednesday 11th August – No Pause for Prayer this week
Sunday 15th August at 10.30am – Morning Worship led by David Tuson;
Preacher – Andrew Gibb

There is now no need to request a place at the Sunday Services but it is important that if you are bringing children aged 5-11 that you notify the Church Office – office@wokingurc.org.uk – so that provision can be made for them.  An under 5s group will be starting again later in the year.  There will be an over 11s group each week and there’s no need to notify us if they plan to attend.
