Dear Friends,

As you know, there’s never a dull moment at Woking URC and I’m excited to be able to announce that our much-loved half-term Farm & Funfair outreach event is coming back on Tue 28, Wed 29 and Thurs 30 May, in partnership with the Children With Special Needs Foundation.

Many of you will remember the success of this event in previous years when thousands of people were welcomed through the doors of the church, along with dozens of families who are supported by the Children With Special Needs Foundation.

This time the outreach event will run for three days. There will be a petting farm and children’s rides in the car park. Inside there will be refreshments, lunches, quizzes for children and more.

Also, due to popular demand, the fascinating Exotic Animal Shows will be back. These will be half hour shows where you can meet a fascinating selection of exotic animals and learn about them and their habitats.

On the evening of Wednesday 29th May (5pm onwards) there will be a special opportunity to see the animals, share in worship outside and a BBQ. This evening event will be open to everyone in our church family, and any extended family and friends you’d like to bring.

Aims of the Event 

  • To welcome people into the church building who might not normally come in and grow relationships with our community.
  • To witness to our faith by showing what we do and offering a warm, loving welcome.
  • To serve and raise awareness of the Children with Special Needs Foundation. 
  • To provide a low-cost, fun activity for our community during half term week. 

YOUR help is needed!  

Here are some of the tasks which will need to be done. In due course, sign-up sheets will be available for most of the jobs listed below.

  • Putting up posters/giving out flyers before the event 
  • Setting up on Monday 27th May
  • Welcoming on the door or welcoming in the car park 
  • Selling tickets at the event
  • Collecting tickets at the entrance to the farm/exotic animal shows
  • Making cakes
  • Serving coffees, hot lunches 
  • Friday night BBQ
